This years Ruby's Review on #jollingwithseanmcbride on Burg.studio radio kicked off with a bang on Friday, 9 January 2026 with Dillion Byleveld aka DJ DILEET as my chosen muso of the moment .
It's true. Just as one is one the brink of losing faith all together in people... along come a special human who will show you that there is still so much good in this world.
Not only is Dillion an incredibly talented creative soul, a special human and amazing friend, but an inspiration...and let me tell you why.
Besides standing tall and firm on his word, his follow through game is rock solid. This making him, possibly the most reliable person this side of the hemisphere.
I had the privilege and honour of working with Dillion on the creation of my very first released single, Typhoon. and I can tell you, collaborating with him was possibly, by far, one of the highlights of my own musical journey. I learnt so much from him...musically, yes...but more so about believing in , using and not shying away from ones own voice.
So without further a do...lets take a closer look into the world of DJ DILEET as I share our interview with you.
Q: You are a musician, an EDM DJ wonder AND you produce. How long have you been involved in the production side of music?
A: I've been producing since grade 8. (Age 14)
Q: What recent production(s) have you been involved in?
A: For the past two years, give or take, I've done the production for HOTBOX ME (band). Produced 8 tracks for the band so far.
Q: And how long have you been a DJ?
A: I only started 'dj-ing' about a year ago although I honed the skill for 2 years, give or take.
Q: Where do you draw your inspiration from for your music?
A: Inspiration usually starts with a small musical idea or a drum loop that sparks a melody or sometimes a bassline. And it builds from there. I must say though, Skrillex was the big reason for my love of EDM music.
Q: What do you feel has been your greatest achievement thus far?
A: For me, I'd say my greatest achievement was finishing and releasing my debut album and the track, ' SAGITTARIUS', reaching a 1000 streams on Spotify. Hey, its not much but it's sumthin.
A: Greatest hit numbers wise is SAGITTARIUS, yes
A: About a week, but I got lucky. It got added to a playlist.
Q: Is there anything else you'd like to share with us about SAGITTARIUS or the making there of?
A: Yea....I used my own voice … just tuned down.
Q: Can you share some of your goals and aspirations with us?
A: Goals and aspirations are to play at sick venues and and make crowds fokkin skud! Produce more music that bangs and maybe make some cash along the way!
